Taxi-hailing app, Uber Kenya, has announced a suspension of night pickups in the country starting 6pm on Friday evening.

The suspension comes a time when the country enters into a national curfew imposed by the government to combat to the Covid-19 pandemic. The indefinite curfew lasts between 7 pm to 5 am each day starting Friday, March 27, 2020.

In a tweet on the official twitter page on Friday evening, the company announced that “following the national curfew directive announced by the President to prevent the spread of COVID-19, we are suspending our rides services in Nairobi and Mombasa between 6pm and 5am daily, effective March 2020, until further notice.”

Just like the curfew, Uber’s night pick up suspension has been left open ‘until further notice.’

Uber Kenya operates in Nairobi and Mombasa.
